Wednesday was a turtle release day and a LOT of driving. About 700km in the car. First we drove to Peterborough (again) to pick up 2 turtles.

Here we are at the turtle hospital entrance

And an update for the patient numbers this summer

Turtles loaded, off we go to Stayner Ontario. We have the address input into our GPS and it takes us to a park with a lovely pond.

We find a place to walk to the water’s edge and say goodbye to turtle number 1

Off he goes happy as can be

Then a LONG drive to an area well north of Cathy’s home. We stopped between 2 indigenous land areas the Shawanaga and Magnetewan treaty lands. Our GPS led us to a spot not accessible by car so we did our best and found a tiny boat launch where the turtle could be released within 1 km of where it was originally found.

Resting on the rocks

and watching turtle number 2 swim away

Then we raced back home in time to host the sock of the month club. I was really tired so Pip and I fell asleep.
