Hi all here’s Gulli!

On Friday my hostess had an appointment. She gave a personal sport lesson. We critters watched the birds again and I was able to take a photo.

Then we stalked around in the flat (that's what they call apartments in Europe.)

Yes!! she allowed it Mom!!  Look what we found in the kitchen drawer... American cup and spoon measures!

And they have a rocket in their kitchen.

And a really scary looking tool.

Raven said that it is used to cook Spätzle. What are Spätzle?, I asked.

Oh Spätzle is the familiar form of Spatz and that is in English sparrow, Raven answered.

Eeeeek they cook sparrows shudder shudder--- mischievous raven giggled…. gah but ya all know I’m the brave Gulliver!!!

Mrs. Ratty solaced me and whispered in my ear that it is a kind of noodles.

And what about the rocket???

The kitchen rocket is a coffee machine made by WMF, a famous company only 85 km away from here. They produce cookware.

This machine is about 50 years old!!

And now I proudly present my Spätzle lesson! Mom as you can see there’s an option doing it without the Spätlesdrücker!! I graduated in this technique ;-)) When I’m back I’ll cook it for you.

Use a coarse flour.

Add eggs, salt and water.

Mix well and wait about ten minutes.

The dough must be moist.

Then fill the tool called a Spätzlesdrücker.

Gently press into boiling water.

When they appear on top of the water you can take off the water.

this is the ancient version to make them without Spätzlesdrücker.

Just watch this video to see how it is done.

And here was our supper, a famous Swabian dish: Spätzle mit Linsen und Würstchen Spätzle with lentils and sausage.

Then on this morning as promised for breakfast, Brezel. Oh that fabulous smell!!
