We spent some time in downtown of Chicago.

Here we are at the bean. This is a famous place to reflect on.

And here with one of the Art Institute Lions.

Once we got home I helped dye eggs for the Greek Easter.

I was surprised to find out that The Greek Orthodox Easter doesn’t necessarily land on the same weekend as the Western Easter. Orthodox follow the Julian Calendar. Lenten fasting followed by holy week fasting is ended after Easter Liturgies on Holy Saturday at midnight with a huge meal, sometimes fireworks. The eggs are dyed red to represent Christ’s blood. Each person takes an egg and then 2 people knock the ends of their eggs to see whose cracks. It was originally intended to represent Christ coming out of the tomb but now has become a game where everybody keeps knocking into others eggs until both ends are cracked. The one left with an uncracked end wins the game and gets a year of good luck.
