Since Singingsheep was working at home today, I got to have some free time to enjoy myself. Can we say possum wrestling?

Kitchen window bird watching was a little more successful today. A number of starlings and a robin took baths in the birdbath, and a male American Goldfinch had a drink. All before I managed to get the camera though. But there was still a bird out there!

Singingsheep is a member of the Halton/North Peel Naturalist Club They have meetings on the second Tuesday of every month, so I got to go to tonight’s meeting. The meetings are in a small town named Glen Williams, just to the west of Brampton. We had dinner in a local pub before the meeting; en route to the pub we crossed over the Credit River, so I got to have a look.

(After my adventures with Heinie, Singingsheep made sure she had a firm grip on me at all times.)

After dinner, we had time before the meeting, so we went down to get a closer look at the river.

The topic of tonight’s meeting was Amphibians and invertebrates in Vernal Ponds. I learned a lot during the presentation.

We took this picture of one of the slides, featuring a mass of yellow spotted salamanders.
