Gulli and I have had quite a remarkable week with lots of excitement.

He’s been down dark dim alley ways, seen the chocolate river for himself and experienced “dusty rain”. He’s quite smitten with Edna and even scared her at some point. It’s funny to see Edna spooked. She’s usually rather curious but she was cowering under my desk on Tuesday which was hilariously funny. I think two days with Gulli was way too much for Edna. :)

On Wednesday, it was over 35 degrees and there were emergency vehicles everywhere. Gulli got to see Melbourne’s finest in action with a number of raids taking place at the same time all across Melbourne in the early hours of the morning. There was one at the local tattoo parlour, one in Port Melbourne (around the corner from my work) and to top it all off, some daydreaming moron hit the rail bridge losing the load off the back of the truck and holding up traffic. There’ll be a photo of the fire truck and police we encountered getting to work going up on my project page too.

It was stinking hot in the afternoon and then the rain came when it was time to go home. The rain went exactly where it was needed and the ground got a really good soaking. It was literally at least 15 hours of constant rain.

We still have 14 fires in East Gippsland some which occurred as a result of lightening strikes but the rain, that was something else!!! It was literally raining dust. I think the dust from the bush or the dust from the fires must have traveled up to the clouds because when I left the city on Wednesday night, the rain on my windscreen was like white tea. The next morning, the water bowl for my magpies looked like mud or a very strong tea with milk.
